Power Up Milton: A Plug-In Solar Group Buy
Plug-in Solar Community Program for Milton, VT renters and homeowners, brought to you by the Milton Energy Committee, led by Henry Bonges, and OwnWatts.
Why plug-in solar?
The system plugs straight into an outlet and starts lowering your energy bill right away. Vermont's S.202 law, effective July 1, 2026, allows renters and homeowners to use plug-in solar systems 1200W or under without utility permission.
What is this program?
We're organizing a community group buy: when enough Milton residents join, we negotiate a bulk discount on plug-in solar kits and bring the price down for everyone.
Who can join?
Any Milton, VT resident: renters and homeowners, in any type of housing, including mobile homes.
How it works
Now: We're finalizing kit selection. Two 1200W kits are in testing, with mounting options for roof, ground, and fence/balcony setups.
This spring: Final kits and pricing are announced, and the group buy opens.
You order: Each member orders their kit directly at the group discount.
You install (or we help): Install it yourself, or get help from a trained volunteer team, for residents who need it.
